Despite being on the table for many years, it is still clear that not everyone has fully grasped the effects of Type Approval which became effective for trailers in 2013 and covers vehicles over 3500kg from this October.
Type Approval is essentially a series of checks against road transport conformity before a truck or trailer first enters service. From a bodywork perspective, it covers under run protection, marker lights, spray suppression, reflective tape, dimensions and many other aspects.
From this October, it will be impossible to register a new vehicle without Type Approval and it is already starting to become clear that not all dealers are fully geared up for this reality.
